Prototype ergo propter type

A new conscript in the Trebuchet MS army.

It’s quite a nice font, actually. I just worry. It’s like Feist for web fonts. You like it, it seems pretty capable, then you realize everyone else likes it, too. And that doesn’t bother you (well, it does, a little, but that’s unfair), but the thing about popular choices is that they’re easy to make, and you want people to think you’ve really put a lot of thought into this sort of thing and been very clever and creative and all that. Otherwise, what’s the point doing your own CSS? It won’t be too long before people start coming to your site and thinking, “oh, Trebuchet. Of course it’s Trebuchet.”

It’s a nice font, dammit! I like the lower-case g!

Trebuchet works so well with minimalist designs. Most of its innovations are so subtle you’d never notice, but those few that aren’t (the g, the &) really stand out. And minimalism is about all I can do, really, just barely, without making a mess of things.

Still, I’m pretty happy with the new look. Now, about that content….
