Professional

I am a Member of Technical Staff at CERT, a part of Carnegie-Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute.

I’ve also done general IDS/IPS hacking and sensor event collection and correlation.

My recent work revolves around visualizing network monitoring data and developing tools to increase the effectiveness of network security operations in our sponsor organizations.

Personal

My wife is Victoria Groce, a freelance writer, professional-level pianist and one-day Jeopardy! champion (defeating nineteen-time champion David Madden in the process). Last and most significantly, she is the mother of my daughter, Nora Frances.

Nora, the aforementioned daughter, was born on 6 December 2004. As of this writing she is, in every sense of the word, three.
